New Groups and on the News!

Our first Bristol Group, facilitated by Group Coordinator Kate and attended by our Treasurer Kim went brilliantly! Going forward it’s taking place on the first Thursday of every month at 7pm at The Tobacco Factory.

September’s served brand new groups in both Bristol and Ayr, and the latter featured in a fantastic interview on the telly…

Big ADHD Fundraiser Cyclist and now Ayr ADHD Support Group Facilitator Beth, spoke to ‘That’s TV Ayr’ about her free groups happening at 6.30pm, Tuesday 7th October (first Tues of every month) at 48 Newmarket Street, in Ayr.

Our attendee feedback forms informed us that Septembers first Ayr group was enjoyed by all who attended; as were all of our groups last month.
GO TEAM!

Thank you so much to all attendees who are helping guide our evolution by providing feedback from each session, and to all facilitators. Such exciting times!

And it’s been a very exciting month for myself also…

I’m Laura, the founder of ADHDAF+ Charity, and I’ve been fortunate enough to be invited on tour with Dr Mine Conkbayir MBE, Paul Whitehouse, Johnny Vegas and Heston Blumenthal. Raising ADHD Awareness with Bingo in their live podcast tour.

This was taken on stage at Leicester Square Theatre.

This one was from their Manchester event.

I’m so very grateful to be able to signpost to the local support groups; and I know that some of the people that attended September’s Manchester ADHD group due to me talking about it in this show so we are all incredibly grateful to the ‘I’m ADHD!’ Team.

And it was so wonderful to have so many ADHDAF+ Charity legends together to watch the London gig! Alongside Leopard Print army legends who helped inspire the creation of this charity, and ADHDUK Ambassador Chris; the Chair of The Board of Trustees Amanda and Tech Support and London Peer Support Group Facilitator Ruth attended, alongside Big ADHD Fundraiser Cyclist Steph, and founders Claire and Darren.

It would be reasonable to assume that after cycling almost 300 miles in just 3 days, and having raised such an enormous amount, that Darren would be hanging up his cycling shorts until next year’s fundraiser, but you would be wrong.

Darren went on to embark upon a solo cycle from London to Brighton!

You can still help push the total of the Big ADHD Fundraiser up to £15K by donating HERE.

All funds are split between ADHDAF+ and ADHDadultUk Charities, and all donations of any size are very much appreciated. We are so grateful to Darren, Claire, Kirsty, all of the cyclists and all who have supported. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

New Group in Cambridge!

We are very excited to announce that we are starting a Cambridge peer support group this ADHD Awareness Month!

Volunteer Facilitator Donnie will be connecting and empowering ADHD adults of marginalised genders on the second Thursday of every month at 7pm, starting on 9th October

The Cambridge group is taking place at Western Pavilion, Peppercorn Drive, Northstowe, Cambridge. CB24 1BF.

You can sign up for email reminders for this group by simply adding your email address via THIS LINK or if you’re not in the area you can do so for your local group HERE

All of our Peer Support Groups are FREE to attend.
No RSVP or ADHD diagnosis necessary!

We have a very relaxed approach to time; all groups last between 1.5 to 2 hours. You do not need to arrive on time, stay for the entirety of the session, and you are free to move around, take breaks and doodle, draw, whatever would make you most comfortable throughout.

If you have or think you might have ADHD, you are invited to connect with other ADHD adults of marginalised genders…

But what does ‘marginalised genders’ mean?
Can anyone attend ADHDAF+ Support Groups?

ADHD Awareness Month 2025

‘The Many Faces of ADHD means that ADHD affects individuals differently, with varied symptoms, experiences and challenges, and that it is not just a childhood condition but can affect adults lifelong. The theme aims to raise awareness and understanding of the diverse presentations of ADHD, such as inattentive, hyperactive-impulsive and combined types, and to highlight its presence in different genders and ages.’
- adhdawarenessmonth.org:

ADHD is rarely served alone, there are many commonly co-occurring conditions, or as we like to call them ‘side dishes’.

In October, our groups will discuss the unique ways that ADHD and its side dishes present in each of us in order to find systems that can support us best as individuals, and to enable us to be understanding and compassionate to all presentations within our community.

If we think of ADHD like ice cream, though there are many different flavours and topping combinations, but it’s all still ice cream!

October brings a very special event!

Since October 2022, the Podcast which inspired the creation of ADHDAF+ Charity has held an annual online event to encourage the ADHD community to unite to raise ADHD awareness by wearing leopard print.

This year, in celebration of launching and to signpost ADHD adults of marginalised genders to our Charity ADHDAF Day 2025 is also a fundraiser. TAP HERE FOR FUNDRAISING PAGE

Even if you don’t have the funds to donate, even just posting your leopard print selfie and tagging @adhdafplus on Instagram will help connect and empower the ADHD Community and we really appreciate your support.

HOW TO TAKE PART:

- Wherever you are in the world, please wear at least one leopard print item (as many as you like) on Friday 24th October

- Please take a photograph or video to help demonstrate 'The Many Faces of ADHD' (the theme of ADHD Awareness Month 2025) and to spread out leopard print movement

- Please share your image or video on instagram/Facebook with the HASHTAG #ADHDAFDay and TAG @adhdafpodcast and @adhdafplus in order to signpost people to their free local ADHD Support Group / encourage them to apply to start their own (and so that we can see your post and share it too)

- Encourage others to get onboard ahead of the day! Last year saw teams at work going for Leopard Print as their casual Friday attire to get onboard! :)

- Please make a donation to this fundraiser page (even just £2) and share the link to enable us to continue to facilitate more groups and provide training to our Volunteer Facilitators.

March saw the first of our Peer Support Groups to connect and empower ADHD adults of marginalised genders, and by the end of 2025 we will have TEN groups in Scotland and England (and soon to be Wales); and all with phenomenal feedback from new communities of like-minded locals!

Four years on from dressing up in Leopard Print and ranting on a Podcast, just look what has been achieved TOGETHER!

Thank you so much to The Leopard Print Army of ADHDAF Podcast Listeners for making ADHDAF+ Charity happen! FIND OUT MORE
