…which led to a Charity…

From the
kitchen table to the
House of Commons

One in four ADHD women has made an attempt on their life.

Motivated by her personal experience as a woman living with late-discovered ADHD,  Laura Mears-Reynolds established ADHDAF+ to create a safe, inclusive space where ADHD adults can connect, share experiences, and access practical guidance. By sharing her experiences on the ADHD As Females podcast (recorded in her kitchen) and at her unique live events, she built a supportive community online and in person. The empowerment she witnessed inspired her to create ADHDAF+ charity to support ADHD women and adults of marginalised genders and to create local community support networks in the absence of timely medical support.

ADHDAF+ pioneered free, in‑person peer support groups specifically facilitated by women with late discovered ADHD, many of whom have had their own lives profoundly transformed through the podcast and Laura’s work. Some facilitators had been out of work for years due to low self-worth, or severe mental health challenges. Through Laura’s mentoring and our training and support these women are now confident leaders, delivering support to their peers.

Since the first group in March 2025, we have facilitated over 80 groups in one year nationwide, creating community-based spaces where participants feel understood, represented, and empowered, uniting local communities.

Laura celebrates difference and has carved her own lane, proving that conforming to neurotypical standards isn’t necessary, and that women like her can thrive by working with their unique brains. Her ADHD “bingo” seminars transform awareness into interactive learning. Harnessing the novelty-seeking and reward-system strengths many people with ADHD are motivated by, while engaging participants in fun, memorable ways and uniting like-minded locals for invaluable peer support.

The charity’s impact has been recognised nationally, with coverage in the BBC and The Independent and recently, ADHDAF+ were invited to attend an event at the House of Commons, reflecting national recognition of the challenges faced by women with ADHD and ADHDAF+’s role in representing our community.

Through leadership, innovation, and direct community impact, ADHDAF+ is redefining support for ADHD adults of marginalised genders. By empowering both participants and facilitators, championing inclusion, and creating spaces where difference is celebrated, the charity exemplifies resilience, and community-driven care.

About us, by us, for us.

After an enormously successful first year of ADHD Peer Support Groups, we are very excited to be partnering with the National Trust to create our first Live Events as a charity; AND to have been nominated for TWO National Diversity Awards! We would be so grateful for your votes HERE.
